Secondo la psicologa Vegetti Finzi l’innalzamento dell’età della maternità ha determinato un’alleanza più profonda tra madri e figlie.
Le neomamme vedono nella mamma una donna di esperienza che può intervenire con consigli adeguati.
Ciò è particolarmente vero nel caso di mamme single che magari hanno bisogno di sostegno per dimenticare un amore finito.
Perché è più importante a livello genetico
La nonna materna è fondamentale nella trasmissione di informazioni genetiche ai nipoti. Infatti, non solo partecipa come gli altri nonni alla trasmissione dei geni. Ma, la figlia, fin da quando si trovava ancora nel suo grembo, già possedeva l’ovocita potenziale nipote.
I nipoti, dal canto loro, considerano la nonna materna il più importante membro della famiglia dopo i genitori. Questa informazione emerge da uno studio del 2007 dell’Università di Bristol. Secondo i dati raccolti, 9 adolescenti su 10 hanno sostenuto che la nonna materna avesse un maggiore coinvolgimento nella loro vita scolastica. Inoltre, 8 ragazzi su 10 hanno dichiarato di aver discusso con la nonna materna il proprio futuro.
Alcuni studi, però, evidenziano che le nonne più soddisfatte sono quelle che non hanno troppe responsabilità genitoriali. Una presenza troppo accentuata nella vita del nipote può anche influire nell’equilibrio familiare. Invece sono i genitori che dovrebbero trovare le modalità opportune per collaborare all’educazione dei figli come alla gestione delle incombenze domestiche. Tra l’altro sembra che la collaborazione del marito nella gestione della casa renda il rapporto di coppia più duraturo.
Gelosia tra i nonni
Il fatto che la nonna materna sia così importante e la preferita da mamma e figli può causare gelosia tra i nonni. I nonni paterni possono, infatti, provare sentimenti di esclusione.
Inoltre tra mamma e nonna paterna possono sorgere sentimenti di invidia e competitività. Ma se c’è rispetto reciproco, anche la nonna paterna ha il diritto/dovere di partecipare alla vita dei nipoti.
Anche uno studio sui disordini alimentari ha ribadito l’importanza dei nonni e delle nonne in particolare. Il coinvolgimento delle nonne influenza il benessere psicosociale dei nipoti.
I dati hanno evidenziato infatti che il sostegno dei nonni riduce i sintomi depressivi e migliora l’autostima dei nipoti, sia adolescenti che adulti.
I nonni che si interessano ai nipoti, ma sono rispettosi dei ruoli dei genitori, che sanno che è importante anche dire no, sono sicuramente i più apprezzati, a prescindere dalla loro posizione genealogica.
